Glasgow, KY – The T.J. Community Mission Foundation (TJCMF) announced the successful completion of the $3.5 million capital campaign to build Shanti Niketan Hospice Home during a special ceremony celebrating the facility’s five-year anniversary.

The campaign, titled “Love Makes This House a Home,” was launched in 2015 with the goal of creating a residential hospice facility to serve families throughout south central Kentucky. Since opening in 2021, Shanti Niketan Hospice Home has provided care and comfort for more than 275 patients and their families.

“Shanti Niketan Hospice Home reflects the very best of compassionate healthcare,” said Neil Thornbury, CEO of T.J. Regional Health. “For five years, families in our region have experienced extraordinary end-of-life care in a setting that honors dignity, comfort, and the presence of loved ones.”

During the anniversary event, TJCMF Executive Director Randy Burns announced that the final commitments needed to retire the campaign’s remaining debt had been secured.

“With a final gift commitment of $70,245 made within the past two weeks, we are thrilled to announce that the campaign to build Shanti Niketan Hospice Home is now complete,” Burns said. “This home stands as a testament to the compassion and generosity of an entire community.”

The $3.5 million project was funded through community donations and a $2 million USDA loan secured through a partnership with Farmers RECC, which allowed construction to begin in the winter of 2019–2020. Over the course of the campaign, 1,290 individuals, families, businesses, and T.J. Regional Health employees contributed to the effort.

Developed through a partnership between the T.J. Community Mission Foundation and T.J. Regional Health, Shanti Niketan Hospice Home provides a peaceful, home-like setting for specialized end-of-life care supported by an experienced hospice team.

Burns noted that while the campaign’s completion marks a major milestone, the Foundation is now focused on building an endowment to support long-term sustainability and patient assistance for families in need.

The name Shanti Niketan, derived from Sanskrit, means “a place of peace.” For families throughout the region, the hospice home has become exactly that.
